Timeless Tales : In the spirit of friendship: Junghans Telemeter Edition JF

The Telemeter model is part of our brand’s tradition; it was back in 1951 that Junghans first presented a chronograph boasting additional telemeter and tachymeter displays. The new Telemeter continues this history in a special way: as an instrument watch, the Telemeter was mainly produced with a stainless steel case in the 1950s.

However, the new Telemeter Edition JF, limited to 150 pieces, uses one of Junghans’ rare gold watches as its role model – a watch that Hannes Steim, Junghans’ managing director, purchased from the family of a deceased friend. “I wished for a new interpretation of this sporty elegant model,” Hannes Steim said. “Originally it was supposed to be one single piece just for me, but this new watch gained so many fans inside the company that we decided to make a small series out of it.”

The new Telemeter Edition JF has a yellow gold PVD coating over its stainless steel case and, like the original, a black dial. The eponymous telemeter scale is printed in red against a grey background; it was conceived to measure distance from an event that contains light and/or sound. The additional tachymeter scale is printed around the outside perimeter of the dial and measures average speeds. The Telemeter Edition JF is powered by automatic chronograph Caliber J880.3, which can be admired through the transparent case back. This watch comes on a black leather strap with a grey saddle-stitch seam whose color corresponds to that of the telemeter scale.
